What is happening
Public Reel, private post and account export are different jobs
This page is for one public Reel or video post that you are authorised to save. It is not a private-content viewer and does not import Instagram sessions. For a complete backup of your own account, Instagram’s official Accounts Centre export is the better tool because it can include selected information, a date range, format and media-quality choice.
Copy the Reel link
Open the individual Reel, use Share and copy its complete link. Do not paste a profile or Explore URL.
Check public availability
The analyser confirms whether the source can be reached without your Instagram login.
Prepare a compatible output
Choose Compatible MP4 for the broadest playback support, then save the completed file promptly.
Official option first
For your own Instagram library, use Accounts Centre export
Instagram’s official export tool lets account owners create an export to a device or external service. You can choose the profile, information included, date range, format, notification email and media quality. That is normally better than downloading your own posts one at a time.

Where the download normally goes
Browser and device settings can change the exact folder, but these are the usual locations.
iPhone / iPad
Copy the Reel link in Instagram. Safari saves the prepared file to Files → Downloads. Open the MP4, tap Share and choose Save Video when Photos accepts the format.
Android
Copy the Reel link, paste it into the analyser and look in Downloads using Files by Google or your phone’s file manager.
Windows
Copy the individual Reel URL from the browser. Use the Downloads button in Edge, Chrome or Firefox to locate the completed MP4.
Mac
After processing, open Finder → Downloads. A compatible MP4 can be opened in QuickTime or imported into Photos.
Troubleshooting
Use the error as a clue
Instagram asks for a login
The post may be login-gated even if it looked public inside your app. This service does not borrow your account session.
A profile link was pasted
Open the individual Reel or video post and copy that post’s share link.
The Reel has no sound
The source may be muted, music rights may differ by region, or Instagram may not expose the expected audio stream.
The post is a carousel
Carousel and photo-post extraction is not the core tested use case of this page.
Rights check
Publicly viewable does not automatically mean free to copy
Use the tool for media you created, material the rights holder authorised you to save, public-domain content, or another lawful use. A downloaded file does not grant permission to republish, sell or remove attribution.
- You created the media.
- The rights holder gave permission.
- A licence allows the copy.
- The material is genuinely public domain.
- You have another lawful basis and understand its limits.

Can this download private Instagram Reels?
No. Private and login-restricted media is deliberately unsupported.
Does it store my Instagram login?
No. The service does not request or import Instagram credentials or cookies.
Can I back up my whole Instagram account here?
No. Use Instagram’s official Accounts Centre export for a complete account backup.
Will the downloaded Reel always include licensed music?
Not necessarily. Audio availability can change because of source, region and music-rights restrictions.
